ClubCorp To Repeat World's Largest One-Day Golf and
Dining Event
Expects to Host 15,000, Serve
10,000 Dinners, and Raise $5 Million
ClubCorp®, The World Leader in Private ClubsSM,
has announced it will repeat the ClubCorp Charity Classic,
the world’s largest one-day golf and dining event Sept 26
(dates may vary).
More than 140 golf and country clubs and business and sports
clubs around the country will again open their courses and
dining rooms to an estimated 25,000 members, guests and
patrons for tournaments, dining events and social
extravaganzas.
All proceeds raised during the ClubCorp Charity Classic will
be divided and donated to the following three charities:
- The Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA),
specifically “Augie’s Quest,” an initiative within MDA
that is an aggressive, cure-driven effort singularly
focused on treatments and cures for ALS, (amyotrophic
lateral sclerosis, or Lou Gehrig’s disease).
- ClubCorp’s Employee Partners Care Foundation (E.P.C.F.),
a fund created to help ClubCorp’s employees and their
families by providing financial assistance in times of
crisis.
- Each club’s selected charity of choice. Each
ClubCorp club will designate a local or national charity
of their choosing. More than 100 charities represented.
Last year, the ClubCorp Charity Classic raised more than
$1.6 million through live auctions, dinners, golf and
tennis tournaments, a variety of fitness activities, as
well as an online auction. Proceeds benefited the
Muscular Dystrophy Association’s Augie’s Quest, The PGA
Foundation, Susan G. Komen for the Cure, and the E.P.C.F.
“We are excited to build on the momentum of last year’s
historical event,” stated Eric Affeldt, ClubCorp’s
president and CEO. “With an aggressive goal to raise
more than $5 million for these important initiatives, we
hope to fully engage and inspire our 200,000 members,
16,000 employees, our many sponsors, and the public
community, which is invited to participate in these
wonderful events. ClubCorp is excited to carry on our
50-year tradition of building relationships and
enriching lives through service.”
“The ClubCorp Charity Classic and the ClubCorp team are
making the most significant difference in our quest for
a cure for ALS,” said Augie Nieto, MDA’s national vice
president and chief inspiration officer. “The technology
and science are converging to make a cure possible, and
ClubCorp will play a major role in making a cure a
reality.”
